In one line. Be respectful, be honest, and help the next person learn. Harassment, discrimination, and bad-faith disruption aren't welcome anywhere Bluelearn happens.
1 · Our pledge
We pledge to make participation in Bluelearn a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socioeconomic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation. We pledge to act in ways that keep our community open, welcoming, diverse, and healthy, because the whole point of Bluelearn is that anyone can learn and contribute.
2 · Our standards
Behavior that helps the community thrive:
- Showing empathy and kindness toward other people.
- Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences.
- Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback. Editorial review only works if people can hear it.
- Taking responsibility, apologizing to those affected by our mistakes, and learning from them.
- Focusing on what is best for learners and the commons, not just for ourselves.
- Arguing about content and approach, not about the person who wrote it.
3 · Unacceptable behavior
- Sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind.
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
- Public or private harassment.
- Publishing others' private information (such as a physical or email address) without explicit permission.
- Sustained disruption of discussion, editorial review, or governance, including vote manipulation, brigading, and bad-faith dispute-spamming.
- Other conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.
4 · Where it applies
This Code applies across all Bluelearn spaces (the platform itself, the GitHub repositories, the Discord community, and any official channel) and when an individual is officially representing the project in public spaces. Verifier and moderator decisions on content follow the editorial rubric described in How it works; this Code covers conduct.
5 · Reporting
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, report it. We take every report seriously and handle it with discretion for the person reporting.
- Email the conduct team at conduct@bluelearn.org.
- Or contact a community admin directly in the Discord.
All complaints are reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly. We will respect the privacy and security of anyone who reports an incident.
6 · Enforcement
Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing these standards and will take appropriate, proportional action. Depending on severity and history, that typically follows a ladder:
7 · Appeals
Enforcement decisions can be appealed. Reach out to the conduct team with context, and a different community leader than the one who made the original decision will review it where possible. We'd rather get this right than be fast.
8 · Attribution
This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1, tailored to Bluelearn's editorial and governance model. It is available under CC BY-SA 4.0, like the rest of our content.
