About the project

Make any concept learnable by anyone.

Bluelearn is a nonprofit, fully open-source education platform built on one idea: mastery requires a foundation. When you hit a concept you don't understand, the platform hands you the prerequisite, automatically, with no dead ends and no paywalls.

In one sentence

One global prerequisite graph of community-written, community-verified guides, rendered as a readable, contributable website.

Every topic surfaces its strongest guide on top, with ranked alternatives kept visible beneath it. Prerequisite edges connect them: A → B means "understand A before B." The whole site is one directed graph, not a pile of separate courses. Pick a goal and the system builds the full climb to it, organized into levels. See how it works →

What Bluelearn is not

Not a school

No certificates, no enrollment. Just the material.

Not a video platform

Text and diagrams first: searchable, skimmable, editable.

Not Wikipedia

Wikipedia tells you what something is. Bluelearn teaches you how to get there.

Not a forum

The best guide per topic rises to the top; rival approaches stay visible as ranked alternatives, not comment threads.

Not a link dump

Guides are self-contained. They teach the material, not link out to it.

Not commercial

Nonprofit. No paywalls and no non-contextual advertising, ever.

Who it's for

The same graph serves very different people, because prerequisites are universal:

Students Scientists Do-it-yourselfers Developers Artists

How it started

It started with a single YouTube video by Sebastian Rey, which spun up a Discord community ("The B.L.U.E. System") in early May 2026. That community crossed a thousand members within weeks and kept growing. The project grew out of it.

Today Bluelearn is built by a volunteer community of designers, engineers, writers, and domain experts (thousands strong on Discord and growing) coordinating in the open on GitHub. None of us are getting paid. We're building the thing we wish existed when we were trying to learn something hard.

Nonprofit & open by design

A public benefit corp

The Bluelearn Project is incorporating directly as a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. Funding will be public and mission-locked.

Open source, openly licensed

Code is AGPL-3.0; content is CC BY-SA 4.0. The knowledge base stays downloadable. Recoverability is a commitment, not a feature.

Free forever

No paywalls. No selling your data. No ads dressed up as content. These are written into our governance.

This only works if people build it.

Whether you write, code, design, verify, or just want to follow along, there's a place for you.
